SUMMARY:Quarterly Board Training: Finance Basics Every Board Member Needs
DESCRIPTION:About the SeriesEach session runs 4:00 5:00pm and follows the same rhythm: the first 10 minutes connecting as a board community\, 30 minutes of focused content on that quarter's topic\, and 20 minutes of open discussion a chance to bring any board question\, big or small\, to the table. We meet quarterly. You must register for each session. About the SessionYou don't need to be an accountant to be a good fiduciary you just need to know what questions to ask. This session breaks down the board's financial oversight role in plain language: reading a budget or financial statement\, understanding the board's legal duty of care\, and spotting the red flags worth a second look. Come with your own budget questions\; we'll make time to work through them together. About the PresenterNancy Bacon has trained thousands of board members over the past decade. She is a teacher\, instructional designer\, and learning strategist with 25+ years in the nonprofit sector. She leads Nancy Bacon Consulting\, designing learning experiences that help nonprofit leaders make sense of complexity and take action during change. She co-founded the Nonprofit Learning Center and co-hosts the Nonprofit Radio Show. This training was developed through the Washington State Department of Agriculture's Statewide Technical Assistance and Training Program and is offered to strengthen leadership and organizational capacity across Washington's emergency food network.
