Legislative Advocacy 101: Engaging for Food Security
Wednesday, January 7, 2026 (3:00 PM - 4:00 PM) (PST)
Description
Join us for a one-hour virtual legislative training designed specifically for food banks and pantries. This session will introduce how state policy shapes hunger and food assistance, provide a brief primer on poverty and policy, and offer clear, actionable steps for engaging with legislators. Developed in partnership with the Statewide Poverty Action Network, policy experts who regularly support community organizations, the training will help volunteers and staff understand upcoming changes, including recent shifts in federal assistance programs, and how to effectively advocate during the legislative session. Whether you're new to advocacy or looking to strengthen your understanding, this session will provide practical guidance rooted in the real challenges food banks face across Washington.
